A family outreach leader works in collaboration with each school at Attendance Support Team (AST) meetings to encourage better attendance in students. Family outreach leaders attend scheduled meetings with parents/guardians in order to help assist with basic needs. This connects families with resources in order to eliminate barriers to attendance.
To improve the attendance rate, an Attendance Protocol Committee was established. Each Family Connection employee is a member of the committee along with representatives from each school as well as other agencies. The committee develops protocol relating to mandatory school attendance.
