Union County Family Connection is excited to introduce a new addition to our staff. As part of the Drug Free Communities grant, Mel Eanes will be working with staff, students, and families.  She will be expanding the UC CPAW (Union County Community Prevention Alliance Workgroup), a group that works to increase collaboration and reduce substance use among youth.  Mel shares a bit of info with you all.  “My name is Mel Eanes and I am the new Program Coordinator for the Drug Free Communities initiative. I studied Social Work at Auburn University for my undergraduate degree, followed by a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. I have an extensive background in working with children and am excited to learn the ropes of this new role. I will be working closely with Union County Middle and High Schools. In the Middle School, I will be teaching the children a Life Skills Curriculum focusing on drug and alcohol prevention. In the High School, I will be working with students and staff regarding positive social norms. I will also assist with Family Connection and the existing mentor program when needed.”  We look forward to having an additional staff member to help ensure the success of families in our community.
