It is difficult to condense all of the wonderful parts of the holiday season into one post of thankfulness but we want to attempt to express our appreciation to each person who had a part in making the holidays brighter for children and families right here in our community. This year we worked with 75 families, businesses, churches and other organizations to serve 805 Union County children, a 10% increase from last year. Some of these children participated in shopping events such as Shop With a Panther, Shop With a Cop, and Shop With a Cruiser. Others were provided with gift and clothing items through personal shoppers. Still others were able to do their own shopping by means of a gift card. For the seventh year in a row, Fellowship of the Hills Church provided approximately 275 “buckets of love” food bags to help stock the pantries of families receiving gifts. In addition to this assistance, other groups collected toys from staff and customers and gave those to Union County Family Connection to help supplement gifts. Due to donations throughout the year, we were also able to provide warm coats, shoes, hats, gloves, and other stocking stuffers to families who needed them during gift pick up. Whether you provided gift wrap, donated a toy, sponsored a family or many children, provided food, gave of your time as a volunteer, sent home permission forms, or helped organize efforts, your input was appreciated. We absolutely could not do the job we do without community support. The goal of this outreach is to share that love from community with those who may be discouraged and need a bit of hope and positivity. We strive to build relationships and connections. Thank you for allowing us to share this with them during this season and throughout the year. A true example of #unionunited!
